Five Programs, One Mission

At United in Christ, we believe lasting change happens when communities are met with more than a single gift, it happens when education, health, faith, relief, and opportunity are woven together. Since 2007, that conviction has shaped five interconnected programs, each run by local Pakistani staff and volunteers who live in the communities they serve.

Below, you’ll find how each program works, what it looks like on the ground, and the difference it’s making today.

Our Approach

Before we describe each program individually, it’s worth explaining how we work, because how matters as much as what.

  • Local leadership. Every program is led by Pakistani staff, pastors, teachers, and health workers, not outside volunteers passing through. This keeps the work rooted, culturally attuned, and sustainable long after any single project ends.
  • Holistic, not siloed. A family facing poverty often also needs healthcare, their children need schooling, and their community needs a church that can hold it all together in prayer and practical support. We rarely address just one need in isolation.
  • Dignity first. We don’t design programs to make donors feel good, we design them so the people we serve retain ownership, voice, and dignity in how they receive support.
  • Full transparency. We publish how funds are used and welcome specific questions from anyone who partners with us financially

01 · Education

Opening Doors Through Learning

In many of the communities we serve, a lack of access to consistent schooling or the cost of books, uniforms, and fees, keeps children, especially girls, out of the classroom. Our education program exists to remove those barriers.

What This Looks Like:

  • Scholarships covering tuition, books, and school supplies for children from families who could not otherwise afford them
  • Support for small community schools, including basic infrastructure and learning materials
  • Adult literacy classes for parents, particularly mothers, who missed the chance to learn to read and write
  • Mentorship and tutoring support for students at risk of dropping out

Our Impact: Since the program began, we’ve supported hundreds of children through scholarships and literacy classes, with many going on to pursue further education or vocational training. Girls’ enrollment and retention has been a particular focus, given how quickly girls are pulled out of school during periods of financial strain.

A Story of Change:

“The scholarship program meant my daughter could finish school instead of working in the fields. She wants to be a nurse now.” — Amara B., mother of a scholarship recipient

02 · Health

Care That Reaches Where Clinics Can’t

Many villages we work in have no nearby clinic, and the nearest hospital can be hours away by unreliable transport. Our health program brings basic, essential care directly to families who would otherwise go without it.

What This Looks Like:

  • Mobile health clinics that travel to underserved villages on a regular schedule
  • Maternal and prenatal care for expectant mothers, including safe-delivery education
  • Basic treatment for common illnesses, wound care, and referrals for serious conditions
  • Community health education on hygiene, nutrition, and preventable disease

Our Impact: Our mobile clinics have brought checkups, treatment, and maternal care to villages that previously had no consistent access to a health worker, often reaching families for the very first time.

A Story of Change:

“The mobile clinic reached our village for the first time in years. My son received treatment we couldn’t have afforded otherwise.” — Yousaf K., father of a patient

03 · Church Ministry

Planting Faith That Grows Roots

Faith is at the center of who we are — and church ministry is where that faith takes shape in community. We work alongside local pastors to plant, strengthen, and equip churches so they can serve as anchors of hope, worship, and mutual support.

What This Looks Like:

  • Planting new churches in communities without an existing congregation
  • Training and equipping local pastors with leadership and pastoral care resources
  • Hosting worship gatherings, conferences, and discipleship programs
  • Supporting church infrastructure — from basic shelter to repairs after natural disasters like flooding

Our Impact: We now partner with dozens of local churches across Punjab, supporting pastors who serve as first responders, spiritually and practically, for their communities during times of hardship.

A Story of Change:

“Our church now has a real roof, and a place for the whole village to gather.” — Pastor Iqbal M., church ministry partner

04 · Poverty Relief

Meeting Urgent Need With Dignity

Flooding, illness, loss of work, or a single emergency can push a family from stability into crisis overnight. Our poverty relief program provides both emergency response and longer-term support to help families regain their footing.

What This Looks Like:

  • Emergency food distribution during crises, disasters, and seasonal shortages
  • Shelter repair and rebuilding support after flooding or structural damage
  • Direct assistance for families facing medical emergencies or sudden loss of income
  • Coordination with local churches and community leaders to identify families in greatest need

Our Impact: Poverty relief is often the front door through which families first connect with United in Christ — and frequently the starting point for longer-term support through our other programs, like education or women’s empowerment.

05 · Women’s Empowerment

Building Independence, One Skill at a Time

Many women in the communities we serve have deep skill and determination, but limited access to training, capital, or a first opportunity. Our women’s empowerment program equips women to build sustainable income and lead within their families and communities.

What This Looks Like:

  • Vocational training in tailoring, embroidery, and other marketable trades
  • Small-business grants and micro-loans to help women launch home-based enterprises
  • Peer support circles where women share knowledge, encouragement, and accountability
  • Basic financial literacy training

Our Impact: Graduates of our vocational and small-business programs have gone on to open home-based shops and workshops, becoming primary or contributing earners for their families, a shift that ripples outward into their children’s education and household stability.

A Story of Change:

“With the tailoring training and a small grant, I opened a shop in my home. I now support my whole family.” — Rukhsana T., Women’s Empowerment graduate

Partner. Churches, schools, and businesses interested in a deeper partnership with a specific program are welcome to reach out directly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I choose which program my donation supports?

Yes. When you give, you can direct your gift toward a specific program education, health, church ministry, poverty relief, or women’s empowerment or allow us to apply it where it’s needed most.

Do you work with local churches, or only through your own staff?

Both. Many of our programs, especially church ministry and poverty relief, are run in direct partnership with local pastors and congregations who know their communities best.

How do you decide which families receive support?

Local staff and community leaders, including partner pastors, help identify families with the greatest need, particularly during emergency relief efforts.

Is your work only for Christian families, or open to everyone?

Our programs serve all families in the communities where we work, regardless of faith background. Church ministry specifically supports congregations, but education, health, relief, and empowerment programs are open to anyone in need.
